By Car

  1. Take the M6 to Junction 40 (Penrith)

  2. Exit onto the A66 (towards Keswick)
  3. Stay on the A66 for approximately 1/2 mile to the first roundabout
  4. Take the second left on the roundabout to the A592 (Ullswater).
    Note: The first exit off the roundabout is into the services.
  5. Around 3 miles later at the T-junction turn right by the lake sign posted Patterdale.
  6. Approximately 2 miles further along the lake and look out for the Knotts Mill sign on the left hand side of the road.
  7. Turn right and then immediately left into the drive labelled Knotts Mill Lodge, not straight on to Knotts Farm.

    By Bus
     

    1. Take the 108 bus from either Penrith train or bus station to Gowbarrow Cottages.
    2. The bus will pass Knotts Mill Country Lodge and once you get off the bus backtrack down the road and Knotts Mill is visible 100m along on the left.
